With Sam sent out on a mock work engagement, that leaves Susy , a recently blinded young woman, alone in the property. In this town lives the Benson family, which contains Widow Ellen, her 8 year old son Pidge, and Pop, the boy’s grandfather.
Jennifer Lawrence gives an incredible performance in this polarizing Darren Aronofsky film. Some believe the film is brilliant while others found it too disturbing and pointless. César makes it his mission to psychologically destroy her by any means necessary.
Life is filled with racist people, but the long shots of Jackson peering condescendingly the moment the couple pulls into the driveway don't allow for much character building. In a couple of scenes the assailants come face to face with their targets and takes advantage of their young age to escape from being overpowered physically. It was marketed as a film based on a true event and found acceptance from the audiences and critics alike. Now we don’t know what would really happen if something like that actually happens to us, and we wouldn’t really want to know. But in the movies, homes turn into battlegrounds where everyone is tested on how far they would go to protect the place they call home.
A middle-aged businessman has been been left alone by his family one night, when a pair of young women knock on his door, claiming that their car has broken down. Of course, their intentions are very different, and they soon start playing a series of increasingly disturbing sexual and psychological games with their unlucky prey. The movie was remade by Eli Roth in 2015 as Knock Knock, and while it doesn't really add anything new to the story, it's worth checking out for Keanu Reeves' increasingly unhinged performance.
